MUSC Health is seeking an Assistant Director of Engineering to lead multiple functional areas within the Engineering Department at MUSC/Florence, SC. The role requires guiding two or more staff and partnering with leadership to ensure regulatory compliance and efficient operations across clinical and non-clinical settings.
The candidate will support life safety, utilities management, and construction oversight, with emphasis on process improvement, patient safety, and quality outcomes.
Opportunity available for an energetic Assistant Director of Engineering at MUSC/Florence, SC.
Manages one or more functional areas within the Engineering Department. Manages two or more professional and support staff, including subordinate supervisors. Evaluates and improves department processes while ensuring compliance with policies and applicable laws and regulations. Possesses greater discretion and financial authority than lower management levels. Leads initiatives, strategic priorities, and programs that impact the organization. Works independently and collaborates with leadership to support the budget process and meet key operational goals. Plans, organizes, facilitates, monitors, and evaluates departmental activities and functions based on organizational goals. Collaborates with leaders to establish operating procedures, enhance clinical and non‑clinical workflows, increase productivity, and improve overall quality outcomes and operational efficiencies across delivery settings. Assists the Director in day‑to‑day operations and assumes responsibility in the Director’s absence. Responsibilities include Life Safety and Utilities Management documentation, assistance to front‑line staff with best practices and solutions, supervision of contractors, and project management oversight including ISLM and Infection Control during construction and other duties as assigned. TJC, DHEC, and CMS survey experience is desired. Provides engineering support for the Pee Dee Division: Florence, SC; Marion, SC; and Black River/Cades, SC.
