The Assistant Director, Data Analytics is a data storyteller conducting descriptive, exploratory, and predictive analyses to provide key insights for fundraising success. This role works directly with the Development Operations team to ensure data is properly maintained and coded within our CRM, producing reports that highlight KPIs and performance metrics to inform development strategies.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Four+ years in database management with a focus on data analytics, modeling, and reporting in non-profit fundraising.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge or Crystal Reports recommended.
  • Experience with Tessitura preferred.
  • Experience in non-profit educational or cultural organizations preferred.
  • Proven experience in report generation for organizational leadership.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Understanding of fundraising metrics, KPIs, analytics, and reporting.
  • Strong technological capacity to improve data integrity, governance, and quality.
  • Strategies to reduce data errors, promote cross-departmental collaboration, and advise on CRM best practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and comfort with new technologies.
  • Knowledge of ETL/Data Warehousing and SQL is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams efficiently.
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact effectively at all levels.

Physical Requirements: Primarily sedentary work; no special demands.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with museum leadership to craft data-driven narratives for stakeholders.
  • Manage reporting and analytics programs, products, and services.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative data to monitor progress, identify trends, and derive insights for strategy and recommendations.
  • Partner with IT to develop visualizations, dashboards, and infographics.
  • Oversee data governance during system migration over 16 months.
  • Assist with Tessitura system setup, especially for complex data structures and financial reporting.
  • Co-manage prospect management processes, ensuring data accuracy for KPI dashboards.
  • Develop data systems, workflows, and processes for continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and perform analyses to support validation.
  • Lead internal SOPs, training, and onboarding related to development data.
  • Other duties as assigned.
