Job summary

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine seeks two Assistant Directors of Cytogenetics. The roles offer leadership in a state-of-the-art laboratory, with opportunities for education, research, and clinical innovation.

Located at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, the Cytogenetics Laboratory provides constitutional and oncology testing, including FISH, CMA, methylation, and NGS.

Qualifications

• M.D., D.O., Ph.D. or equivalent with ABMGG board certification or eligibility.
• Expertise in clinical cytogenetics and genomic diagnostics (chromosome analysis, FISH, CMA, molecular testing).
• Experience with NGS, bioinformatics, variant interpretation, and assay development desirable.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across clinical and academic teams.

Responsibilities

• Review and sign out clinical cytogenetic and molecular studies (karyotype, FISH, CMA, methylation, NGS).
• Provide consultation on test selection, interpretation, and follow-up testing.
• Develop, validate, implement, and optimize new clinical assays and genomic technologies with leadership to expand services.
• Participate in quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and system-wide improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate across pathology, genetics, oncology, pediatrics through conferences and tumor boards.
