Qualifications

• PhD or other terminal degree in public health, behavioral science, implementation science, epidemiology, health services research, social sciences, medicine, nursing, or related field.
• Eligible for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.
• Nationally recognized record of scholarship in community-engaged research, cancer prevention and control, health equity, implementation science, population health, or related disciplines.
• Record of extramural funding as PI or Multi-PI.
• Experience working with community organizations and diverse populations.
• Experience leading multi-sector partnerships and collaborative research initiatives.
• Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the strategic vision for Community Outreach and Engagement.
• Support implementation of COE goals aligned with Cancer Center Support Grant requirements.
• Assist in developing infrastructure that supports bi-directional engagement between communities and researchers.
• Promote integration of community priorities into cancer center planning and research activities.
• Serve as a representative of the cancer center in statewide and national community engagement efforts when the Founding Director is unavailable.
• Build and maintain relationships with healthcare systems, advocacy groups, schools and universities, government agencies, employer organizations, patient and survivor groups.
• Promote community trust and long-term partnership development.
• Foster collaborations between researchers and community stakeholders.
• Promote community-engaged and participatory research approaches.
• Facilitate partnerships addressing community-identified cancer priorities.
• Support incorporation of community perspectives into research design, implementation, and dissemination.
• Expand opportunities for community participation in cancer research and clinical trials.
• Utilize community input and data to develop strategies targeting areas with greatest cancer burden.
• Support translation of catchment data into actionable research priorities and interventions.
• Support initiatives to reduce disparities in cancer prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.
• Promote culturally responsive and community-informed interventions.
• Collaborate with healthcare systems and community partners to address social determinants of health.
