What you need to know

TTI is a Texas based agency. This position has the flexibility of a hybrid remote option with three days in a TTI Texas based office. This can be discussed further during the interview process. Your primary duty station will be TTI HQ Bryan, located at 1111 Rellis Pkwy, Bryan, TX 77807. You are required to report to this location for the first 30 days of employment. Following this initial period, a flexible work arrangement may be approved at the agency’s discretion. The salary range for position is commensurate. Final salary will be determined based on the applicant's qualifications and experience. A Presidential proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposes a $100,000 fee on new H-1B petitions filed after September 21, 2025. Please be advised that Texas A&M University will NOT pay this fee. Therefore, if you need immigration sponsorship for your employment, we recommend that you consult with your private immigration counsel at your own expense to ascertain whether your current immigration status would make a potential offer of employment from Texas A&M University subject to this fee. In addition, on January 27, 2026, Texas Governor Abbot issued a moratorium on the filing of any new H-1B unless approved by the Texas Workforce Commission. Job Summary

The Assistant Director, reporting to the Director of Communications, will support critical operational functions, ensure workflow efficiency, and sustain ongoing process improvement efforts. This role will provide structure, oversight, and coordination across multiple service lines, ensure timely projects delivery, and manages daily operations. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon availability of funding and satisfactory performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Management Role (30%)
  • Supervise the leads of the Creative, Web and Application, Content, and Editorial service lines.
  • Ensure service lines are meeting billing expectations.
  • When required serve as a back-up to the Director.
  • Serves as a member of various committees as required.
Communications Workflow and Management (30%)
  • Manage the intake and assignment of projects.
  • Oversee the accurate and timely setup in the job tracking system.
  • Shepherd projects through multiple stages and teams within Communications (e.g., content development, editing, design, proofing, client review, accessibility checks, and approval).
  • Track milestones, deadlines, and budgets for assigned projects using job tracking tools.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure work order deadlines are met; adjust timelines as needed.
  • Relay project requirements, updates, and changes to assigned teams and ensure alignment on scope and expectations.
  • Act as a liaison between project managers, project workers, and clients.
  • Assist with preparing progress reports and tracking follow-up items.
Communications (30%)
  • In concert with the Director, creates, develops and implements strategic communications (internal and external) for the agency.
  • Writes, reviews and edits written materials, prepares presentations and communicates with appropriate parties to maintain a positive image of the agency as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Seven years of experience working in a communications environment, such as a communications department, print shop, marketing office, or newspaper.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong verbal and written communication skills for email, phone, and in-person interactions. Excellent organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail. Ability to manage, track, and document complex workflows efficiently. Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Professional, positive demeanor with strong customer service skills and the ability to interface effectively with clients. Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Familiarity with database and job tracking systems.

Other Requirements or Factors

Work beyond normal business hours and/or work on weekends. Travel may be required. Familiarity, experience, or ability to use specific equipment may be required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience handling and tracking communications processes and follow-ups.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating projects across multiple teams or departments.
  • Writing and editing skills.
  • Familiarity with design, content development, or production workflows in a communications setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with database and job tracking systems.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.
