Summary of Job Duties: The Assistant Director, Clinical Facilities & Biomedical Engineering the Director in overseeing the hospital’s clinical infrastructure and medical equipment. This role manages the procurement of medical equipment, ensures compliance with repair and preventive maintenance standards, and adheres to The Joint Commission, CMS, and OH&S regulations. Essential duties include leading staff, fostering vendor partnerships, scheduling preventive maintenance, directing capital projects, and maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff. The Assistant Director works closely with clinical and administrative leaders, oversees budgets, and implements policies to improve operational efficiency.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Biomedical Engineering Technology, or related field plus 5 years of experience in managing healthcare equipment OR;

Associates Degree in Business, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Biomedical Engineering Technology, or related field plus 7 years of experience in managing healthcare equipment OR;

High School diploma plus 9 years of experience in managing healthcare equipment


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Negotiates and administers all vendor service contracts for medical related equipment. Oversees all in-house medical equipment repairs.

  • Processes the procurement of all medical related equipment for ICE. Chairs the Medical Equipment Management Committee. Advises on capital equipment needs and negotiates equipment pricing with vendors.

  • Oversees mechanical electrical team that is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the pneumatic tube system, TV system, and nurse call systems

  • Oversees integration of medical equipment with EPIC. Responsible for the hospital patient monitoring network, all networked medical equipment, and the corresponding interfaces to the hospitals EMR system.

  • Report on the status of the healthcare technology program to management on a regular basis and immediately when that status changes.

  • Report on industry developments, emerging technologies, regulatory changes and other issues related to healthcare technologies that may have a strategic or other significant impact on the organization

  • Perform other duties as assigned
