  • On-Campus & Off Campus Student Employment Opportunities: oversee student employment services and Handshake platform.
  • Career Advising, Fairs, Presentations & Workshops: provide advising, organize career fairs and classroom sessions.
  • Career Peer Advisor supervision: recruit, hire, train CPAs and supervise programming.
  • Additional Responsibilities: social media marketing, First Destination Survey, grad assistant supervision, and event representation.

Job description

Plymouth State University invites all qualified individuals to apply for the position of Assistant Director, Career Advising. This position focuses heavily on internships and developing COOP partnerships. It also manages on and off campus student employment and programming. Additionally, the position will provide general academic and career advising, workshops and programming services to students and alumni in collaboration with a career advisor, the Academic & Career Advising Center team, faculty, staff and Alumni Relations.

Duties/Responsibilities

Internship Coordination and COOP Development (30%)

  • Establish partnerships and create a thriving COOP program for PSU students in collaboration with Community Impact, Alumni Relations, Employers and other campus stakeholders
  • Oversee and expand a centralized campus-wide internship program (both for-credit and not for credit)
  • Educate, assist and prepare students on specifics of internships and COOPS pre to post-experience
  • Administer an employer vetting process for internships (for-credit opportunities) as part of overall employer cultivation and engagement strategy
  • Develop training, programming and educational materials for employers, faculty and students on internships
  • Facilitate placements and complete MOUs for all internship participants
  • File mandatory federal reporting forms
  • Create a centralized internship repository for current and past internship sites
On-Campus & Off Campus Student Employment Opportunities (15%)
  • Oversee on-campus student employment services, including helping students secure on-campus student employment
  • Develop programming, resources and communication materials to advise students and campus employers on on-campus student employment
  • Work with key campus stakeholders, including Human Resources, Office of Community Impact, Student Financial Services and Finance to operationalize and strengthen student employment services and duties
  • Manage Handshake (Job, Internship and career resources platform)
Career Advising, Fairs, Presentations & Workshops (25%)
  • Provide career and academic advising services to students and alumni on all career related topics
  • Manage a thriving Career in the Classroom program connecting and educating over a thousand students each year on career related topics
  • Organize multiple large-scale career fairs each year connecting hundreds of employers to PSU students
Career Peer Advisor (CPA) and Career Advisor Supervision (10%)
  • Recruit, hire, and train all Career Peer Advisors (CPA’s) and the full-time Career Advisor
  • Create and oversee CPA programming
  • Collaborate with full-time Career Advisor on establishing COOP partnerships, creating standard operating procedures
Additional Responsibilities (20%)
  • Social media and marketing engagement and initiatives
  • Manage First Destination Survey
  • Grad Assistant Supervision and Development
  • Represent ACAC at Accepted Student’s Days, Open Houses & misc. campus events
Requirements

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required advising, higher education, human resources, program administration or related field.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong project and program management experience
  • Exceptional collaboration skills and ability to effectively partner with key stakeholders
  • Experience coaching and advising students
  • Strong verbal and written communication and public speaking skills
  • Advising and career development knowledge and skills
  • Program/workshop development and facilitation experience
  • Proficiency with various technology platforms including Microsoft Office Suite, student database software and other educational technology tools
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree preferred with a minimum of two years of experience in career development
  • Experience in college/university academic advising or career development office.

Compensation Pay Range

$47,920.00 - $85,410.00
