Job summary

Union for Reform Judaism’s 6 Points Camp seeks an Assistant Director to help create exceptional summer and year-round camp experiences for campers, families, and staff. You will partner with Camp Directors to foster belonging and leadership through immersive STEAM experiences and Jewish life.

The role blends relationship-building, operations, and community engagement, overseeing staff recruitment, partnerships with families, and safe, high-quality programs from inquiry through season end.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Experience in camping, youth development, education, nonprofit leadership, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success building relationships with youth, families, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and enrollment or CRM systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Camp Leadership: Partner with the Camp leadership team to advance the camp's mission, support strategic priorities, and strengthen organizational culture.
  • Serve as a visible leader who models Jewish values, fosters belonging, and contributes to the continued growth and success of the camp and the broader URJ Camping System.
  • Help lead day-to-day camp operations and assume leadership responsibilities as needed throughout the year and during the summer season.
  • Collaborate across the URJ Camping System to share best practices, participate in professional learning, and strengthen system-wide initiatives.
  • Oversee operational systems that camper and staff administration, travel logistics, parent communication, staff hiring paperwork, prospect management, and other core camp functions.
  • Partner with the Business Manager and camp leadership to ensure efficient operations and seamless coordination across functional areas.
  • Continuously improve operational processes and systems to enhance the experience of campers, families, and staff while supporting the camp's long-term success.
  • Lead strategies that attract, engage, and retain campers, families, and seasonal staff while strengthening relationships with congregations and community partners.
  • Oversee the camper and family experience, ensuring responsive communication, personalized support, and exceptional customer service.
  • Support accommodations and individualized needs to ensure every camper has an inclusive and successful camp experience.
  • Supervise designated staff and help deliver engaging summer and year-round programs that foster meaningful connections to camp and Jewish life.
  • Foster a camp environment where every camper and staff member feels safe, supported, valued, and empowered to thrive.
  • Promote a culture of belonging, well-being, accountability, and respect that reflects Jewish values and the URJ's commitment to inclusion.
  • Champion inclusive practices that create equitable experiences for campers and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Help ensure compliance with URJ policies, American Camp Association (ACA) standards, and applicable health, safety, security, and risk management requirements.

Education
