Job summary

The Learning Experience in Byron Center, MI is seeking an experienced Assistant Director to join our leadership team in an early childhood education setting. You will support the Center Director with daily operations, ensure licensing compliance, recruit and train teachers, and help drive enrollment while building strong relationships with families.

Ideal candidates bring leadership experience in a licensed childcare center and a degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.

Qualifications

The Learning Experience – Byron Center is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Director to join our leadership team.

Working closely with the Center Director, you'll play an important role in the day-to-day success of our school — supporting teachers, building relationships with families, maintaining licensing standards, and helping ensure every classroom provides an exceptional experience for children.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Center Director with daily center operations

• Foster a positive team culture built around communication, accountability, and collaboration

Ideal Qualifications

• Previous leadership experience in a licensed childcare center, preschool, or early childhood education program
• Strong understanding of Michigan childcare licensing requirements
• Experience leading, coaching, and developing early childhood educators
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable interacting with both current and prospective families
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred
