The Arc Montgomery County's Inclusive Living Services - Community Living Division is now hiring Assistant Director for role open within the division.
Under supervision of the Director of Community Living Services, the Associate Director of Community Living Services oversees daily operations of the Community Living Services program, which supports adults in residential settings. This includes healthcare management, staffing, holistic service delivery, resolution of incidents, and proactive family communication. The Associate Director is expected to be flexible and responsive, to demonstrate initiative and creative problem-solving skills, and to work closely and collaboratively with team members. This position supervises the Medical Coordinator, Scheduler, and Assistant Director of Community Living Services positions.
Job-Specific Duties And Responsibilities
Inclusion & Engagement for People Supported
- Facilitate and model inclusive interactions and relationships.
- Develop systems to ensure inclusive choices and opportunities for decision-making are available and offered to every person supported.
- Promote increased independence in all aspects of life for people supported, with an emphasis on community engagement.
Healthcare Management
- Develop and manage systems and procedures which ensure the healthcare needs of people supported are identified and addressed, medical appointments are scheduled and completed, and follow-up instructions are implemented.
- Implement and manage systems for training staff on healthcare documentation and procedures.
- Oversee maintenance of healthcare records for people supported, ensuring alignment with identified protocols.
- Manage medication procurement, storage, and administration, and implement corrective action plans for med errors.
- Secure approval for service delivery changes to support changes in the needs of people supported.
Contractor Staffing
- Serve as primary point of contact for organizations which provide contractor staff, overseeing contract implementation, developing and delivering comprehensive orientations, and leading regular progress meetings.
- Ensure contractor staff meet established training requirements and follow all program policies and procedures.
- Develop and manage process for supervisors to request and onboard contractor staff.
- Develop and manage process for approving contractor staff overtime hours, within limits on total working hours.
- Review and approve contractor staffing invoices, ensuring services delivered align with approved requests and identified concerns are raised and resolved.
- Actively engage in converting quality contracted staff to employees of The Arc.
Holistic Service Delivery
- Collaborate with other teams (internal and external) to provide holistic support across programs and organizations.
- Investigate all incidents according to established policies and procedures, resolving outstanding issues.
- Ensure service delivery schedules developed for each person supported align with approved funding and meet the person’s needs, adjusting to provide optimal staffing, reduce unscheduled overtime, and promote staff retention.
- Ensure all staff receive approved, appropriate, person-centered training, and develop and implement process for minimizing training lapses.
- Maintain proactive communication with family members to benefit people supported, especially regarding staffing.
- Provide monitoring and oversight at program locations through both scheduled and unscheduled site visits.
- Oversee payment vouchering process for house-related expenses, ensuring uninterrupted services and supplies.
- Assist with management of Representative Payee funds for people supported, including ABLE accounts and other money-preservation strategies.
Supervision
- Ensure teams have the information and understanding required to deliver services within identified parameters.
- Orient, train, support, supervise, and evaluate employees responsible for completing administrative tasks.
- Orient, train, support, supervise, and evaluate program supervisors responsible for day-to-day operations.
- Manage communication and collaboration within the team to benefit the people supported and their families.
- Provide ongoing staff development for supervisors which enhances their skills and develops their talents.
Documentation and Recordkeeping
- Ensure written records which meet identified standards and include accurate data that supports funding requirements are maintained as required.
- Perform regular record reviews and program reviews to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
Other incidental and occasional duties which are reasonably within the scope of this position may be assigned or required by the supervisor, particularly during urgent situations.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree plus four years of relevant professional experience, or bachelor’s degree plus six years of relevant professional experience. At least three years of experience must be at a supervisory level. 30 credit hours may be substituted for one year of experience.
- Valid US driver’s license which is not a driver's permit
- Experience in process/procedure development and team leadership.
- Proficiency across the Microsoft Office product suite.
- Commitment to a high standard of ethics and protecting confidential information.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and computer skills.
- Ability to read and write fluently in English and have a good understanding of the English language.
Salary: $68,824 pa - $72309 annual depending on education and experience
