Job Description

Shawnee Heights Speech & Debate is seeking an assistant debate coach for the2026-2027 Debate season, which runs from September-January.

Assistant debate coaches must:

• Have at least one, but preferably both of the following:
  • Experience as a policy debate coach and/or competitor.
  • Experience working with young people as a coach, teacher, tutor, mentor, etc.
• Be available to coach approximately 6 hours of practice per week (afternoons and evenings).
• Be available to travel with students 2-3 weekends per month (Fridays and/or Saturdays).
• Be available to judge at post-season tournaments (weekends required in December & January).

The following conditions are preferred but not necessarily required:

• Applicant is at least 21 years of age and has a clean driving record (district requirement to transport students).
• Applicant has 60+ hours of college credit and is willing to become licensed as a substitute teacher (for supervision purposes).
