Job summary

Unitek Learning is seeking an Assistant Dean to support the Dean in directing the Workforce Development nursing program at the Fresno site. You will supervise program activities, manage clinical partnerships, and drive accreditation readiness and compliance.

The role requires leadership, curriculum oversight, and collaboration with faculty, students, and HR. Strong communication and instructional management are essential for success in this on‑site position in California.

Qualifications

• CA RN license current and clear or license from the state where the site is located.
• Master’s degree or higher in nursing, education or administration; or BSN with MSN enrollment.
• Minimum one year teaching experience in pre- or post-licensure nursing programs.
• Minimum one year RN direct patient care experience.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Dean with planning, development, management, updating and evaluation of the program.

• Maintain on‑site student records and faculty/staff documentation with HR.
• Support admission, orientation and teaching load management (50% in labs/clinical).
• Ensure timely course and clinical evaluations and program data collection.

Job Description

The Assistant Dean will assist the Dean with instructional and management responsibilities for the specified Workforce Development site, be responsible for providing site supervision of nursing program activities, implementing special projects, and work with and function under the supervision of the Dean.

Job Responsibilities

Assists the Dean with planning, developing, managing, updating, and evaluating all aspects of the program including, but not limited to:

• Faculty and staff;
• Clinical site liaison;
• Clinical calendars and matrix;
• Curriculum development and implementation;
• Program compliance with Board and/or accreditor rules and regulations; site visits;
• Student advocate;
• Program policies and procedures;
• Faculty and student handbooks;
• Program budget;
• Supplies and equipment to meet program objectives.

Assists with preparing data and other written materials for all required state and Board requirements, reports, proposals, self‑studies, surveys, and site visits.

• Assists with maintaining on‑site student records on site
• Collaborates with Human Resources to maintain required faculty and staff documentation;
• Identifies need for obtaining outside resources for the nursing program;
• Serves on program committees;
• Assists with admission process and orientation;
• Maintains teaching load of 50% in skills lab, sim lab, and/or clinical
• Ensures course and clinical evaluations are completed in a timely manner.
• Accepts other duties as assigned.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Thorough assessment of the ability of the agency to provide clinical experience that meets the objectives for application of theory and clinical course objectives. The assessment includes an analysis of risk, hazards and safety of all students, as well as ensuring adequate staffing to handle clinical objectives;
• Meets with specific clinical faculty and communicates with the Academic Program Manager regarding agency placements and to confirm number of students, faculty assignments, dates, times, and clinical objectives. Completes and forwards clinical approval forms as required prior to initiating clinical rotations;
• Meets monthly with Clinical Partner and Assistant Dean, Workforce Development to review clinical operations;
• Participates with the assigned clinical consortium;
• Ensures clinical evaluations are completed in a timely manner by assigned faculty;
• Collects and disseminates semester‑end student and clinical site evaluations data to the Assistant Dean, Workforce Development;
• Communicates with the Clinical Education Management Department to maintain clinical facility contract updates;
• Maintains minutes of inter‑agency meetings.

Faculty Responsibilities

Participate as a member of the faculty teaching team in preparation and presentation of learning activities within the nursing curriculum.

• Assist with strategic planning and assessment of instructional initiatives to ensure quality of program.
• Utilize principles of teaching that recognize the characteristics of the adult learner;
• Makes continuous efforts to improve quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing different and innovative methodologies and techniques in teaching;
• Demonstrates willingness to acquire skills for utilizing online activities as enhancers to course content/material during interactive teaching and learning;
• Ensures that clinical assignments, clinical rotation matrixes and calendars are completed one month prior to start of next rotation;
• Confirms that faculty is consistently following policies and guidelines as related to student clinical rotation experience;
• Ensures that student performance in theory and clinical learning objectives and outcomes is completed and documented in a timely manner by all faculty;
• Provides access to students for ongoing communication through scheduling of office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods;
• Provides feedback of clinical performance by students and faculty when completing site visit to facilities;
• Reviews student learning material on an ongoing basis and provides input for revision to faculty and at curriculum meeting; follows through as indicated;
• Oversees completion of student attendance records, skills check‑off forms, and program data collection in maintained according to policies;
• Submits required program reports and forms to the Assistant Dean, Workforce Development in a timely manner;
• Keeps current with new technologies and safety regulations;
• Participates in student advising activities;
• Participates in committee activities that support the mission and function of the nursing program;
• Attends faculty meetings or delegates as indicated to faculty;

Student Responsibilities

Develops skills lab and clinical site orientation, in conjunction with faculty and clinical partner;

• Participates in the planning and review process for the recruitment and admission of qualified nursing students;
• Advises and provide academic support to nursing students as indicated;
• Leads bi‑weekly At‑Risk meetings;
• In collaboration with the Assistant Dean, Workforce Development & Campus Deans, ensures that all students have completed the necessary documentation and met the requirements for graduation and state licensing exam.

Other duties as assigned

Pay Range

The annual pay range for this position is $125-135,000

• Typical hiring range is between the minimum and midpoint of the above pay range. Actual starting base pay may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, location and budget.

Qualifications

• Current valid and clear California Registered Nursing License (for locations located in CA); or Registered Nursing License from state in which WFD site is located;
• A master’s or higher degree from an accredited college or university that includes course work in nursing, education, or administration. Or a BSN with enrollment in MSN.
• A minimum of one year teaching experience in pre- or post-licensure nursing programs (associate, baccalaureate, masters, or doctoral);
• One year’s continuous experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care and/or equivalent experience as determined by the Board of Nursing;
• Demonstrated leadership skills;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills;
