Southern Illinois University Carbondale invites nominations and applications for the position of Assistant Dean of the Graduate School. The Assistant Dean reports to the Associate Dean and Director and is the lead for records, registration and graduation clearances. The successful candidate is expected to support administrative and academic leadership, faculty, staff, and students in accordance with the institution’s strategic plan. The position is available June 15, 2026. Review of applications will begin May 22, 2026, but will remain open until filled.

The Assistant Dean is a key administrative position in the graduate school, acts on behalf of the Dean in the Dean's absence, and plays a lead role in student advisement, marketing, orientation, workshops, and supervises graduate registration, records and the graduation clearance units. The Assistant Dean supports the Dean by providing reports via the Banner system on applications, admissions, enrollment, and graduation. The Assistant Dean serves as implementation leader of the Proquest database and reviews dissertation and theses for formatting requirements.
