The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP), seeks an accomplished medical educator to lead and develop curriculum programs across campus.

Position Summary

The Assistant Dean for Curriculum, Clerkship works with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at UICOMP, course directors, clerkship directors, faculty, deans and the department heads/chairs to implement and evaluate modifications to the curriculum to be consistent with the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) accreditation standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform program evaluation of the M3/M4 curriculum in terms of needs assessment, instructional content and methods, student assessment, course evaluation and learning environment.
  • Provide supervision of assessment and clinical simulation within the phase 2/3 curriculum and staff on Peoria’s campus.
  • Collaborate with assistant deans/associate deans locally and across the college to develop and implement policies and procedures regarding the M3/M4 curriculum that are aligned with accreditation standards, guidelines, and educational outcomes.
  • Serve as liaison to clinical site administration and faculty; and both local and college curriculum committees as a representative of academic affairs.
  • Serve as co-director clinical connections and competencies.
  • Co-chair the clerkship directors meeting at Peoria.
  • Collaborate with assistant deans across the college on administration of the clinical curriculum.
  • Participate in regional and national presentations to showcase the work in assessment and curriculum development on the Peoria campus.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD/DO (or foreign equivalent) or PhD/EdD
  • Minimum of five years of experience educating medical students
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical education of medical students
