Summary:

The assistant cutting operator (Jogger) assists the lead in setting up, adjusting, and safely operating all cutting equipment to prepare products to be packed, collated, or bound, ensuring they meet customer specifications in accordance with company policies and procedures. The Assistant Cutter is also responsible for ensuring a safe and continuous flow of accurately jogged and measured paper sheets from jogging stations to the cutting section.

Schedule:

2nd Shift, Monday-Friday, eight or more hours per day, five days per week based on business needs. Primary schedule will be 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM, or similar. Training may occur at other times.

Salary Range:

$16.00 to $18.00 hourly, with compensation commensurate with experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Weigh and jog paper in preparation for cutting.
  • Maintain a constant flow of product to the cutting section.
  • Work closely with cutter operators, using good communication and judgment.
  • Arrange incoming batches to ensure an efficient workflow.
  • Maintain and update the cutting log.
  • Change out and move waste product and recycle receptacles in the cutting areas.
  • Support other co-workers as required.
  • Report all work-related injuries, illnesses, and near misses to management immediately.
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, and documents.
  • Ensure all equipment, tools, and workstations are in good working order and free of safety hazards.
  • Report workplace hazards to management immediately.
  • Wear all assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in your work areas.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Attend all department and company meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education, Licenses, Certifications, and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Six months to one year of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to read and understand job tickets and customer specifications.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Team-oriented with a focus on quality and production.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to adapt to schedule changes.
  • Ability to cross-train and work in other departments or machines.
