The connection we have to the source of our fresh foods is core to the way we do business, becoming the first major supermarket in the United States to document that all its seafood products were sustainably harvested.


PRIMARY PURPOSE

The management trainee program is designed to equip future managers with the skills and knowledge necessary to be effective in this position. Department will be assigned based on store needs.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Observe and follow all company policies and established standard practices.
  2. In the absence of the department manager, manage the department operations in accordance with established department standard practices.
  3. Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times and comply with the company's personal appearance policy.
  4. Actively recognize associates who deliver great service and coach associates to expectations when necessary.
  5. Understand and use company tools such as financial reports, scheduling, productivity, ordering, and business information systems.
  6. Maintain solid communication in the department, with the store manager, and throughout the organization.
  7. Maintain merchandising techniques and layouts consistent with company standards.
  8. Maintain department compliance with pricing and coding policy.
  9. Work within our company's management planning (MPP) guidelines to maintain productivity.
  10. Support company safety standards. Communicate any needed equipment repairs or maintenance work needed. Keep work area free from debris and safety hazards.
  11. Develop product knowledge in all areas of assigned department, including product preparation.
  12. Have total understanding of the department's Standard Practice manual.
  13. Ensure the proper training of all assigned department associates.
  14. Ensure and maintain company sanitation and food safety standards.
  15. Maintain the quality of department's appearance and presentation.
  16. Treat all associates with fairness, dignity, and respect. Provide recognition of accomplishments and offer feedback when necessary.
  17. Perform all special projects and duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Ability to lead and direct others.
  2. Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
  3. Good interpersonal skills and desire to work in a team environment.
  4. Must meet minimum age requirements to comply with company policy.
  5. Effective communication and customer service skills.

Physical Requirements
  1. Lift cases or packages of products weighing 1-40 lb. frequently and 100 lb. on occasion.
  2. Meet established volume activity standards.
  3. Stand or walk 100% of the time.
  4. Perform repetitive grasping, twisting, reaching and hand/arm motions.
  5. Be able to handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning and packaging materials.
  6. Use hands continuously to feel objects, and use tools and equipment to cut and prepare products.
  7. Frequent bending.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
  1. Role model outstanding, friendly customer service and use skills and knowledge to offer solutions that meet or exceed customers' expectations.
  2. Direct workflow of assigned department associates.
  3. Ensure product produced meets company standards.
  4. Oversee the assigned areas including rotation of all products.
  5. Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records.
  6. Order and maintain inventory control in order to maximize sales and limit shrink issues.
  7. Use good judgment in the delegation, assignment, and follow-up required for efficient performance of the department.
  8. Maintain effectiveness of department's staffing, scheduling, and financial results.
  9. Wash, rinse, and sanitize equipment as outlined by company practices.
  10. Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without accommodations.

Salary range is between $17.35 - $24.75 Hrly
