Qualifications

• High School Diploma or the equivalent.
• Training or experience evidencing custodial and basic maintenance techniques.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring cleanliness of classrooms, offices, hallways, and steps and recycling materials per program.
• Clean restrooms and locker rooms daily and replenish supplies.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to facilities and custodial equipment including groundskeeping equipment.
• Set up and take down special equipment for assemblies, programs and other activities.
• Operate equipment to promote a clean, safe, healthy environment.
• Assist in the cafeteria during lunch and help clean the kitchen.
• Guard property against fire, theft and illegal entry and follow safety regulations.
• Provide security for buildings by monitoring during open hours and securing doors/windows during closed hours; respond to calls in Head Custodian’s absence.
• Close the building by shutting off lights and locking doors/windows; unlock as required.
• Perform grounds tasks: mowing, trimming shrubbery, snow/ice removal, waste disposal.
• Lifts and moves equipment, furniture, supplies up to 50 lbs over distances up to 50 yards.

As a Assistant Custodianyou are required to:

• High School Diploma or the equivalent
• Trainand/or experience which evidences a knowledge of custodial and basic maintenance techniques.

As a Assistant Custodian you will:

• Ensuring cleanliness of classrooms, offices, hallways, and steps and recycles materials according to the recycling program
• Cleans restrooms and locker rooms daily and replenishes supplies
• Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs to facilities and custodial equipment including groundskeeping equipment
• Sets up and takes down special equipment for assemblies, special programs and other activities
• Operates necessary equipment to promote a clean, safe, and healthy environment
• Assists in the cafeteria during lunch, and assists in cleaning the kitchen
• Guards property against fire, theft, and illegal entry and obeys all safety regulations at all times
• Provides security for buildings by attending to the physical plant during open hours and secures all doors, windows, and restricted areas during closed hours and responds to Sonitrol calls in the absence of the Head Custodian
• Closes the building by shutting off all lights, locking all doors and windows, and unlocks doors as required
• Performs a variety of tasks to the grounds surrounding the building including mowing, trimming shrubbery, removing snow and ice, picking up and emptying receptacles, etc.
• Lifts and moves equipment, furniture, supplies, or materials (e.g., weight up to 50 lbs, and distances up to 50 yards)
