Job Title: Assistant Custodian 3rd Shift Unlicensed
Location: Buena Vista High School, 5616 L Street, Omaha, NE 68117
Reports To: Building Principal
Work Schedule/FLSA Status: 261 Duty Days/ Non-Exempt; Sunday thru Thursday, 10:30 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. (schedule may change based on district need)
Salary Schedule: Full-time position, Salary Grade: 33D, plus $1.00 3rd Shift Differential
Position Purpose: To keep school building and YMCA in clean and orderly condition by performing duties such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, cleaning hallways, cafeteria, kitchen, and school rooms. Empties trash, maintains building with minor repairs, replaces filters, cleans sidewalks, mows lawns, trims shrubbery, and cultivates flowers.
Essential Responsibilities:
Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor or central office administrators.
Equipment: Use hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, cleaning machines, and office equipment, following OPS guidelines.
Travel: Local travel may be required.
Physical and Mental Demands: Respond rapidly in emergencies; possess organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; work in various environments; lift and move objects up to 50 lbs.
Physical Demands: Varying levels of standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, hand usage, crawling as detailed.
Interrelations: Interaction with district personnel, vendors, and customers; work under supervision; handle diverse situations with tact and diplomacy; provide responsive customer service.
Employee Punctuality and Appearance: Perform duties during scheduled hours; prior approval required for deviations; maintain professional appearance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: High school diploma or GED; 6+ months custodial experience; experience in K-12 settings preferred; valid driver’s license; ability to work early mornings and overnight shifts.
Terms of Employment: Classified full-time, non-exempt position governed by Nebraska laws and district policies; collective bargaining may apply.
