Job summary

Working under the Director of Exhibits & Collections, the Assistant Curator is primarily responsible for ensuring the successful execution of all temporary and traveling exhibits. She/He/They may also assist with research and assets for the development of permanent exhibitions as well. Specifically, duties include:

• Creating object lists
• Drafting content briefs, summaries, and label copy
• Researching and securing relevant assets and permissions
• Assisting with daily exhibit maintenance, including turning lights on and off and cleaning
• Corresponding with other MoSH departments and outside partners/sponsors
• Assisting with exhibition budgeting

Requirements

The successful candidate will have a solid foundation in understanding how complex exhibitions are developed and executed, be a stellar researcher and collaborator, and have an eye for detail. Experience with historical research is a must. A Bachelor’s degree is required, and an advanced degree in Museum Studies or a related field is preferred.
