Job summary

STACK INFRASTRUCTURE is seeking an Assistant Critical Operations Manager (ACOM) to support a local data center campus on the night shift. You will assist in maintaining electrical, mechanical, fire life safety, and base building systems, and help implement safety, availability, and knowledge programs.

Reporting to the Critical Operations Manager, you will help manage CAPEX/OPEX and vendor processes. You will lead a team, ensure maintenance procedures are followed, and contribute to site

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-3 years in a data center or mission critical ops role.
• Knowledge of data center and telecom industries.
• Experience with MS Office and database housing software.
• 1-2 years managing preventative maintenance programs.
• 1-2 years vendor and project management experience.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure.

The Position

STACK is looking for an Assistant Critical Operations Manager (ACOM) to support a local data center campus for night shift operations. As a leader in STACK’s Critical Operations team, the ACOM must possess an expert level of knowledge and will be responsible for assisting the Critical Operations Manager in maintaining the mechanical, electrical, fire life safety, base building, and other various internal data center systems. The ACOM will also be focused on the implementation of programs related to Safety, Team, Availability, Communication, and Knowledge. The Assistant Critical Operations Manager will report to the Critical Operations Manager.

The ACOM will assist the Critical Operations Manager in developing and maintaining CAPEX and OPEX budgets at the site level. They will also be responsible for project execution and management including developing scopes, obtaining proposals, creating purchase requisitions, and ensuring invoices are routed properly.

The Night ACOM position will support Critical Operations across data center buildings on a single campus, ensuring maintainability and reliability across the critical infrastructure.

• Lead and implement a standardized culture of always working safely across all STACK data centers.
• Datacenter subject matter expert for electrical, mechanical, fire life safety, and other data center systems.
• Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions within the facility.
• Implementing site-level efficiency projects and maintaining overall site design PUE.
• Ensure STACK preventative and predictive maintenance program is executed.
• Training and mentoring of junior staff.
• Manage vendor relationships and service contracts.
• Assist in managing vendor procurement and billing process.
• Site budgeting and forecasting both CapEx and OpEx.
• Create highly detailed technical procedures for maintenance events, emergency situations, standard site evolutions, etc.
• Expert technical review of procedures
• Expert technical review of company standards and policies
• Manage site audits both internal and external
• Adherence to compliance standards
• Manage systems to avoid unplanned, customer-impacting outages
• Manage the data floor and back of house mechanical loading capacity thereby ensuring that the cooling system is operating at its highest efficiency
• Navigate and utilize CMS, EPMS, and BMS systems.
• Provide day-to-day exceptional customer service and support.
• On-call availability may be required to respond to emergency situations at the data center
• Take on other duties as required by STACK.

Must-have Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2 -3 years' experience in a data center or other related mission critical operations role.
• Knowledge of data center (hyper scale, enterprise, and colocation), and telecommunications industries.
• Experience working with various Microsoft office applications and other database housing software
• 1 -2 years' experience in administering and managing facility preventative maintenance programs.
• 1 -2 years' experience in vendor and project management
• Ability to handle a multitude of tasks and work well in stressful situations.
• Working understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment. These include, but not limited to: UPS, Transformers, PDU’s, RPP’s, Chillers, CRAH, CRAC, STS, ATS, and Pre-action systems
• Working knowledge of NFPA70e, NFPA72, NFPA25, and compliance issues as well as building codes in regard to fire life safety.
• Working knowledge and experience in data center trending and analysis, with the ability to rapidly learn and use PC based site monitoring systems.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, reach or feel objects, climb stairs, balance, stoop or kneel, talk, see at close range, and hear for extended periods of time
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays, and on-call support.
• Must be comfortable working in a high stress, fast paced environment with shifting priorities
