Job summary

Jackson County Missouri is seeking a County Counselor to lead legal affairs for the county government, providing strategic legal guidance and scholarly research across municipal, civil, and criminal matters.

You will advise elected officials and department heads, review and assign work to legal staff, and assist in formulating or modifying county policies and goals while maintaining the highest professional standards. Comprehensive benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university of law.
• One year of responsible experience in municipal, and civil or criminal law.
• Must be a member of the Missouri Bar Association
• Must submit to and pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Conduct original and creative legal research across diverse areas of law.
• Advise and assist elected County officials and management at the highest levels in policy formation.
• Provide legal advice and assistance to elected officials, County employees, and various boards and commissions.
• May advise, assist, assign, and review work of legal staff.

Job Duties
