Job summary

Graduation from an accredited law school with at least two years of practice is required and Virginia licensure

Job description

Prince George County, Virginia is currently seeking a full-time Assistant County Attorney. The Assistant County Attorney will work closely with the County Attorney in both transactional matters and litigation in all state and federal courts. The Assistant will be responsible for representing the County, the Board of Supervisors, employees and various departments, boards and commissions in civil matters. Salary will be based on relevant experience.

Working knowledge of local government law; knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations and their relationship to the authority and functions of County; ability to organize, interpret and apply legal principles and knowledge to complex legal problems; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public officials and the general public; good professional judgment; good legal research and writing skills; positive attitude and desire to serve the citizens of Prince George County.

Graduation from an accredited law school with a minimum of two years of experience in the practice of law; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must be licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The work schedule is flexible, however, the job requires being at the County office building three days a week.

Pre-employment drug testing and criminal background check, to include fingerprinting, is required.
