The Tort Division of the NYC Law Department is accepting applications from admitted attorneys for the position of Assistant Corporation Counsel in the Vertical Units of the Tort Division.
The Tort Division attorneys defend the City of New York in personal injury and property damage cases primarily in State Court. Attorneys in the Vertical Units handle cases from inception through resolution, engaging in discovery, depositions, motions, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings, including serving as 1st, 2nd, or 3rd chair during trials.
After orientation, attorneys may choose to work remotely under two programs: a limited, irregular remote work option, or a Citywide pilot program allowing two designated work-from-home days per week, subject to division approval and operational needs. Attendees in the pilot must select a consistent remote work location and may need to attend in person for court or meetings.
