Position Summary
Assistant Operator will be responsible for safely assisting the Core Driller during all drilling operations. The ideal candidate should be eager to learn and complete the tasks needed for the job as well as embrace our safety culture.
Must be able and willing to live in the Dallas/Ft Worth area, have a good driving record and be prepared to work out of town for 5-14 days at a time.
Position Requirements
Champion the Martin Marietta safety culture
Assist the driller as he instructs during the work day
Maintain a clean and safe workplace
Assist in the maintenance and repair of equipment as required
Assist in loading and unloading of equipment from support vehicles
Clean maintenance of all shop areas, vehicles, and other work areas
Clean maintenance of all tools and equipment
Other duties as assigned
Preferred Education and Experience
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
Construction/Mining/Material Production experience. Prior core drilling experience preferred
A solid understanding of mechanical skills required; previous diesel and gasoline engine mechanical skills and ability to perform repairs and maintenance duties in field or shop as directed by supervisors
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Be over 18 years of age.
Clean driving record, willing and able to acquire Class A CDL in the future
Pass a drug screen, background check, DOT physical, and back X-ray
Must be in good physical condition; ability to work outside in all weather conditions, able to carry heavy loads (50-75 lbs.) repeatedly during 8–10 hour work days without assistance
Ability to travel most weeks to sites throughout US, with occasional International travel possible. Travel is typically 10 days on, 4 days off with occasional Monday to Friday rotations. Travel time is paid at normal rate, reasonable travel expenses are provided.
Reliable with good attendance history
Ability to effectively communicate and work with others with positive attitude
Must have dependable transportation
Must possess a positive attitude and the ability to interact professionally with other employees and customers
Ability to skillfully operate vehicles with manual transmission
WORKING CONDITIONS
Role will primarily work in heavy equipment, in all weather conditions: heat, cold, wet, dry and/or dusty. Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 90 dbs.
