Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 2 years of proven experience in janitorial services and building maintenance. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, prioritize tasks, and handle interruptions. Must be trustworthy, organized, and efficient, with the ability to regularly lift and move 50 pounds. Valid MN Driver's License, a good driving record, and passing the background check are required. Safe From Harm provisions apply upon employment, with Safe From Harm training to be completed within the first 30 days.

Summary of Position

The Asst. Cook/Housekeeping position involves assisting in maintaining camp facilities, grounds, equipment, kitchen services, and janitorial tasks under the supervision of the Guest Services and Contracts Manager. Responsibilities include meal prep, kitchen cleanliness, and general maintenance. This is a seasonal position, expected to work 30-40 hours per week.

Compensation: $19.00/hour, up to 40 hours/week

Duration: Temporary, April 2025 - October 2025

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain a positive work environment by fostering respectful communication and relationships with co-workers and supervisors. Support the Mission of The Salvation Army by treating all individuals with respect and dignity, without discrimination.

Cook (75%)
  1. Manage the Northwoods Camp kitchen and staff in the absence of the Kitchen Manager.
  2. Prepare daily meals according to the menu plan.
  3. Assist with serving meals and dining operations.
  4. Maintain kitchen cleanliness and meet health standards.
  5. Plan and prepare meals considering dietary needs and allergies.
  6. Assist with special events and projects.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.
Housekeeping (25%)
  1. Perform cleaning and sanitizing of cabins, dorms, guest quarters, and community spaces.
  2. Clean and sanitize restrooms.
  3. Maintain dispensers and cleaning supplies.
  4. Deep clean during off-season.
  5. Clean windows and doors as assigned.
  6. Manage janitorial supplies and inventory.
  7. Perform exterior cleaning tasks.
  8. Report maintenance issues.
  9. Assist with guest questions and requests.
  10. Follow all safety rules and report hazards.

Working Conditions

Generally no hazardous conditions, with occasional emotional distress due to varying situations. The role cannot be performed from home.
