Job summary

Middleborough Public Schools is seeking a cafeteria worker for the school year, with five six-hour days from 7:00am to 1:00pm. Salary shall be set under the contract between the Middleborough Public Schools and the Middleborough Education Association Inc., Cafeteria Workers.

The ideal candidate will follow directions, lift heavy items, operate kitchen equipment, and assist with the operation of a computerized POS system. Prior experience in institutional school food service is preferred.

• Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting.
• Experience or training in institutional food service.
• Willingness to learn operation of POS system.
• ServSafe Certification preferred.

Qualifications & Responsibilities

• Ability to follow written and verbal directions and to work independently.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting, and operate a variety of kitchen equipment.
• Knowledge of sanitation and proper food handling procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff and student population.
• Ability to operate a variety of kitchen equipment.
• Willingness to learn operation of computerized point of sale (POS) system.
• Function and catering experience preferred.
• ServSafe Certification preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience or training in institutional (preferably school) food service.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
