Assistant Controller - Director of Accounting

An apparel company in Vernon is seeking an Assistant Controller to oversee month-end close, maintain the general ledger, manage accounts payable and receivable, and lead internal audits. The ideal candidate should have strong business acumen, quick learning ability, and excellent communication skills.

Minimum Requirements

1. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
2. 15-20+ years of accounting experience
3. Recent and strong apparel and/or retail industry experience
4. Active CPA certification (preferred)
5. Public accounting experience (a plus)

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies
• Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors
• Oversee daily accounting functions including AP, AR, GL, and payroll
• Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Monitor cash flow and manage working capital
• Collaborate with management on financial strategies and business plans
• Provide financial insights and support growth initiatives
• Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering accountability and professional development
