Position Summary: The Assistant Controller, Treasury Manager is responsible for management of the organization’s daily accounting functions related to treasury activities, including bank accounts, lines of credit, loans, credit cards, check deposits, and corresponding general ledger entries and reconciliations. This role is heavily involved in cash flow forecasting and reporting and manages cash movements between bank accounts of different legal entities supporting the firm’s operations.

  • Manage the organization’s daily accounting functions related to treasury activities, including bank accounts, lines of credit, loans, credit cards, check deposits, and corresponding general ledger entries and reconciliations
  • Support cash flow forecasting and reporting activities
  • Manage cash movements aligned with accounting transactions and cash flow forecasts
  • Support implementation, upgrades, integration, and automation of ERP, HRIS, case management, financial reporting, expense reporting, and other systems
  • Assess current accounting and treasury operations, processes, responsibilities, systems, and reports, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing accordingly
  • Support internal and external audit activities
  • Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of effective internal controls
  • Develop and monitor financial, accounting, and treasury performance metrics
  • Hire, train, and retain accounting staff including performance management
  • Support the design and implementation of effective internal controls
  • Research accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Other duties and projects as required

Skill Requirements:

  • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to communicate financial concepts, results, and data
  • Excellent critical thinking, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task and to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
  • Proficiency with ERP, HRIS, case management, financial reporting, expense reporting, and other systems including online banking platforms and interfaces
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of other MS Office tools
  • Maintains unwavering confidentiality and integrity

Work Experience Requirements:

  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and treasury roles
  • Proven experience in a treasury-centric, leadership role is a requirement
  • Experience involving multi-state/multi-business unit entities
  • Solid knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and regulations
  • Public accounting and experience with a personal injury law firm are a plus

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required
  • CPA required

Physical Requirements:

  • Office environment with normal business hours necessary to satisfactorily perform job functions.
  • Stationary Position – Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time.
  • Move or Traverse – This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, meeting rooms, office machinery, etc.May occasionally ascends/descends the stairs to get to other floors, cafeteria and parking area.
  • Dexterity – constantly operates a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine/printer.
  • Move, Transport, Position, Put, Install, Remove - Occasionally moves supplies weighing up to 10 pounds for various presentation and event needs.
  • Communicate, Detect, Converse with, Discern, Convey, Express oneself, Exchange information - The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Detect, Determine, Perceive, Identify, Recognize, Judge, Observe, Inspect, Estimate, Assess - The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
