Leoforce in New York seeks a high-impact Director of Accounting to lead a team responsible for the close, reporting, and controls across a diversified real estate portfolio. You will drive GAAP financials and partner with asset management and ownership to optimize performance.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years of accounting leadership in real estate, strong technical skills, and hands-on experience with Yardi or similar platforms. CPA preferred and hybrid work flexibility offered.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience blending public accounting and real estate.
• Direct experience supervising, training, and developing accounting staff.
• Experience with multifamily, commercial office, or retail properties.
• Strong technical accounting skills, including writing memos on complex transactions.
• Hands on Yardi experience preferred, or a comparable real estate accounting platform.

Responsabilidades

Salary: $150,000 - $190,000 per year

Job Details

Step into a senior accounting leadership seat at a dynamic real estate platform spanning multifamily, commercial office, and retail. This role combines technical accounting, team leadership, and strategic financial analysis, with a real chance to improve processes and drive portfolio performance. You will partner closely with acquisition, development, asset management, and property management teams.

What You’ll Do:

Lead the Team

• Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team
• Set priorities and manage workflow through each close
• Be the go to resource for complex accounting questions
• Train and support newly hired seniors and managers
• Help with hiring, onboarding, and performance reviews
• Partner with senior accounting leadership to improve close, reporting, and controls

Own the Close and Reporting

• Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close
• Prepare and review consolidated GAAP financials across multifamily, commercial, and retail
• Direct forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses with asset management
• Review reporting from third party property managers and JV partners
• Manage lease accounting under ASC 842, including net effective rent, straight line rent, and CAM
• Oversee construction and development accounting
• Prepare consolidations involving multiple entities, equity investments, and JVs
• Manage cash balances and cash forecasting

Controls, Systems and Audit

• Own the accounting system and the control environment
• Serve as the main liaison with external auditors
• Write technical accounting memos and field complex accounting questions from ownership
• Prepare reporting for ownership and senior leadership

Work on Deals

• Lead accounting support for acquisition due diligence
• Direct the accounting for acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and JV transactions
• Advise third party property managers across multiple markets
• Partner with acquisition, asset management, and development teams across offices

What You Need:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
2. CPA strongly preferred
3. 8+ years of progressive accounting experience blending public accounting and real estate
4. Direct experience supervising, training, and developing accounting staff
5. Experience with multifamily, commercial office, or retail properties
6. Strong technical accounting skills, including writing memos on complex transactions
7. Hands on Yardi experience preferred, or a comparable real estate accounting platform
