Job summary

Chesapeake Search Partners is seeking an Assistant Controller for a PE-backed healthcare organization. This hands-on accounting leadership role oversees day-to-day activities across multiple locations, reporting to the Controller.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Admin, or related field.
• Five+ years of progressive accounting experience with supervisory responsibility.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, GL, month-end close, budgeting, GAAP.
• Experience leading multi-entity or multi-location accounting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll, and general ledger activities.
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations, general ledger review, and financial statement preparation.
• Prepare and review financial reports, ensuring timely and accurate reporting in accordance with GAAP and established accounting policies.
• Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes, including variance analysis and ongoing financial reporting.
• Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls while supporting regulatory compliance and the annual audit process.
• Supervise and develop accounting staff, providing day-to-day direction, training, and support to ensure an effective and accountable accounting function.
