Job summary

Maschmeyer Concrete Company seeks an experienced Assistant Controller to lead accounting operations within our Finance and Accounting team. You will support the Controller in financial reporting, general ledger, inventory and cost accounting, and month-end close, driving accuracy and internal controls.

The role requires a strong GAAP foundation, manufacturing accounting experience, advanced Excel, and ERP familiarity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 2+ years of supervisory or management experience.
• Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
• Demonstrated ability to perform month-end closing procedures.
• Strong knowledge of standard costing, inventory accounting, inventory controls, and manufacturing variance analysis.
• Understanding of relationships between PO, receiving, inventory, AP and GL.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing daily operations of the accounting department (GL, AP, AR, fixed assets, inventory, cost accounting).
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and financial reporting.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations and financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and company policies.
• Monitor and strengthen internal controls and procedures.
• Oversee inventory accounting including cycle counts and physical inventories.
• Analyze standard costs and manufacturing variances with Operations.
• Support procure-to-pay accounting and resolve discrepancies.
• Analyze financial performance and identify efficiency opportunities.
• Support ERP administration and accounting automation initiatives.
• Partner with operations to provide financial insights for decisions.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
• Assist Controller with special projects.
