Job summary

LHH is seeking an Assistant Controller in Irving, TX, to help scale a regional finance function within a growing multi-entity organization in the manufacturing/distribution sector. The role requires 5+ years of progressive accounting experience and strong U.S. GAAP knowledge.

The position will lead month-end close, establish regional accounting policies, and partner with regional leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance across the region. Travel 15–20% is anticipated.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.
• At least five years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting and GL accounting.
• Ability to establish processes, strengthen controls, and partner with operational leadership.
• Will travel approximately 15–20% within the region.

Responsibilities

• Manage and review month-end close activities, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statements, and trial balances under U.S. GAAP.
• Establish and maintain regional accounting policies, internal controls, and close procedures; analyze results and KPI reporting.
• Partner with regional finance leadership to support budgeting/forecasting and provide insights.
• Coordinate with corporate accounting, IT, and shared services on systems and reports; manage AP/AR controls.
• Support acquisition due diligence, onboarding, opening balance sheet reviews, banking transitions, vendor setup, integration of acquired businesses.
• Assist with annual external audits and corporate tax reporting; prepare vendor 1099s; manage cash and inventory reviews.

The ideal candidate brings at least five years of progressive accounting experience, strong U.S. GAAP knowledge, and the ability to establish processes, strengthen controls, and partner with operational leadership in a dynamic environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage and review month-end close activities, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statements, and trial balances to ensure accurate, timely reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Establish and maintain regional accounting policies, internal controls, and close procedures. Analyze financial results, review discrepancies, and report on key performance indicators, including bookings and backlog.
• Partner with regional finance leadership to build accounting infrastructure, support budgeting and forecasting, and provide insight into financial performance.
• Coordinate with corporate accounting, IT, and shared services teams on financial systems integration, reporting processes, and accounts payable and receivable controls.
• Support acquisition due diligence, onboarding, opening balance sheet reviews, banking transitions, vendor setup, and integration of acquired businesses into established accounting systems and close schedules.
• Support annual external audits and corporate tax reporting, prepare vendor Forms 1099 as needed, manage bank accounts and daily cash activities, and assist with inventory reviews and other projects.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.
• At least five years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a multi-entity environment.
• Experience in construction, engineering, distribution, or a related industry preferred.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and management accounting principles.
• Experience with month-end close, financial controls, and process development.
• Willingness to work in-office and travel approximately 15–20% within the region
