Job summary

The Nuclear Company is expanding its finance team in the Washington, DC area and is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead day‑to‑day accounting operations and financial reporting. This role reports to the Controller and emphasizes GAAP compliance, strong internal controls, and collaboration with the nuclear services segment.

Ideal candidates bring 6–8+ years of accounting experience, a Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance, and proficiency with ERP systems and Excel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 6–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in corporate or public environments.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems, plus advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing accurate and timely financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow).
• Oversee general ledger reconciliations, AP/AR review, and complex journal entries.
• Support month‑end and year‑end close processes and variance analysis.
• Help maintain internal controls and documentation for regulatory compliance.
• Assist budgeting and forecasting for the company and the nuclear services segment.
• Support audit coordination and reporting needs.
