About the Role
The Assistant Controller serves as a key link between Primergy’s business operations, finance leadership, and outsourced accounting and back‑office providers. This role ensures the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial information across the organization while maintaining a strong internal control environment. The Assistant Controller provides financial oversight, coordination, and insight—helping ensure the company’s reporting, compliance, and project accounting needs are met as Primergy continues to scale.
Responsibilities
- Manage compliance with reporting and settlement of debt financing agreements
- Maintain tax equity partnership deliverables with diligent scrutiny
- Oversight of banking, treasury and cash management
- Oversee outsourced accounting deliverables for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP and internal controls, while identifying and proposing improvements
- Actively participate in management and communication of periodic financial reporting and management presentation
- Undertake review of annual and quarterly financial statements contributing to the representation and disclosures while supporting annual audit
- Support bi‑monthly payroll recording and reporting
- Participate in the preparation of multiple partnership tax compliance activities covering both state and federal filings in conjunction with external preparers while providing educated understanding of compliance matters
- Assist in the coordination of state and local tax research and estimation
- Collaborate on development and application of procurement controls and procurement company
- Adapt to other tasks and deliverables for input and management
Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CPA required
- 8-10 years’ experience in accounting or controllership roles, preferably within renewable energy organizations.
- Strong ability to interpret critical financing agreements and apply common sense solutions
- Understanding of renewable energy finance structures (e.g. tax equity, debt financing)
- Solid understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting frameworks
- Experience managing outsourced accounting partners or shared service centers preferred.
