Job summary

Sonac (by Darling Ingredients) is seeking an Assistant Controller with a strong manufacturing background and expertise in data analysis and MS Office. The role supports the Regional Controller in budgeting, data management, and strategic planning, with emphasis on ERP data extraction and GAAP-compliant reporting.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of manufacturing accounting experience and familiarity with SAP (preferred) or JDE.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing financial statements and related reports.
• Assist in tracking capital projects and maintenance budget.

• Assist with setting up new vendors and customers.
• ERP data extraction and manipulation to useful datasets.
• Process General Ledger entries and Journal entries.
• Assist in standard costing updates.
• Assist with customer sales orders and shipments and supplier receipts of raw materials.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly SOX reviews.
• Data uploads and reviews.

The Assistant Controller position is responsible for assisting the Regional Controller in all duties ranging from data management to annual budgets and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing financial statements and related reports.
• Assist in tracking capital projects and maintenance budget.
• Assist in preparing financial dashboards and KPIs to management

General Proficiencies

• Strong background in Excel.
• Detail oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
• Knowledgeable in GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Strong ability to extract, analyze, and interpret large datasets from ERP systems to support financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, costing, and operational decision-making.
• Cross-department communication and cooperation skills.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or other business-related field.
• 3 years of manufacturing experience in Accounting/Finance.

Preferred Qualifications

• SAP accounting software knowledge.
• JDE experience is a plus.
• Strong data management and reporting skills with the ability to transform ERP data into actionable business insights.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral
• Strong organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, bend, and kneel.
• Occasionally lifts up to 10 lbs
• Long periods spent sitting at a desk in front of a computer screen
