Job summary

Career Movement, a high-growth aerospace company on the Westside of Los Angeles, is seeking an assistant controller to own the books and run the accounting function. You will manage month-end close, cost tracking by project and unit, and collaborate with finance, procurement, and operations as the business scales.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA eligible with hours and plan to sit for the exam.
• 4–6 years of accounting experience in startup, high-growth, or manufacturing environment.
• Cost accounting experience, including project or product-level costing.
• Experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar accounting systems.
• Exposure to audits and internal controls.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Ability to own accounting processes end to end and work across teams.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance commentary.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting.
• Build out inventory and cost tracking so leadership can see profitability by project and unit.
• Maintain the tax compliance calendar and coordinate filings with outside advisors.
• Lead the accounting side of external audits.
• Improve accounting policies, internal controls, and systems as the company scales.
• Partner with finance, procurement, and operations teams.

You will be the primary owner of the books, with a hands on role in close, costing, audits, and the systems that support a scaling hardware business. The company is moving from development toward flight operations, and this role has real room to grow with it.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
