Property Summary

Located at 2317 Huntington Avenue, The Arden is a 126-unit affordable mixed-use multifamily community less than one block from the Huntington Metro in Alexandria (Fairfax County). The new construction includes five stories of residential apartments, including 10 efficiencies, 26 one-bedroom, 76 two-bedroom, 14 three-bedroom, and 11 fully accessible units, all situated over a two-story podium with underground parking, office space, residential lobby, and amenities.

Job Summary

The Assistant Community Manager provides administrative and managerial support to the residential community and supervises staff (a Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Tech). The ideal candidate is organized, efficient, and solution-oriented, capable of handling administrative tasks while managing resident interactions and visits.

Essential Functions
  • Prepare apartment leases and lease renewal documents.
  • Conduct resident and prospective resident interviews.
  • Assist with developing maintenance work schedules.
  • Conduct site inspections of grounds, common areas, and apartments.
  • Assist with resident relocation during property renovation.
  • Initiate background checks and application verifications.
  • Perform move-in/move-out inspections.
  • Investigate and resolve resident complaints.
  • Maintain rent rolls, reconcile resident accounts, and prepare vacancy reports.
  • Assist with apartment turnover procedures and rent collection.
  • Prepare daily bank deposits and manage correspondence with residents.
  • Maintain positive relationships with residents and ensure policy compliance.
  • Assist with inventory management, vendor files, and purchase orders.
  • Maintain and update waiting lists and prepare verification forms and vouchers.
  • Submit subsidy billings and assist with income certifications.
  • Stay informed about housing regulations and train team members as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and property management software (e.g., Real Page OneSite).
  • Basic math skills.
  • Professional demeanor and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, work independently and collaboratively, and pay attention to detail.
Required Education, Certifications/Licenses, Related Experience
  • Diploma or GED.
  • Two years of property management or related experience.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., LIHTC, HCCP, SHCM, CAM, ARM).
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Physical Job Requirements
  • Remain stationary for more than half the time; may need to move about the office.
  • Operate a motor vehicle.
  • Lift and maneuver 15–40 pounds.
  • Use hands and fingers for typing, filing, and equipment operation.
  • Spend more than half the time viewing computer monitors.
Travel Requirements
  • Travel between site locations up to 30% of the time.
