Job summary

Related Affordable is seeking an Assistant Community Manager for our 249-unit affordable housing community in Chicago, IL. You will support the Community Manager with daily operations, leasing coordination, resident relations, and maintaining compliance with affordable housing regulations.

We offer an hourly rate of $24.00–$25.00, a yearly bonus opportunity, and a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance and paid time off. This is a non-exempt position eligible for overtime.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of property management experience (preferably in affordable housing).
  • Familiarity with affordable housing programs and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with RealPage, OneSite, and JD Edwards (or similar software).
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Are you a dynamic and experienced property management professional looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful impact? Related Affordable is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Community Manager to support the daily operations of our 249-unit affordable housing community in Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Community Manager to maintain a well-functioning, welcoming environment for our residents. Your responsibilities will encompass administrative tasks, resident relations, and ensuring compliance with affordable housing regulations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Assist in managing leasing activities, marketing efforts, resident recertifications, and general administrative duties to ensure efficient community operations.
  • Handle accounts payable and receivable, aid in rent collection, and assist in managing delinquencies to maintain the financial health of the community.
  • Address resident concerns promptly and professionally, fostering a positive living environment. Assist in organizing resident appreciation and retention events to build a strong community spirit.
  • Ensure adherence to affordable housing program requirements (e.g., HDC, HCR, HUD, LIHTC) by maintaining accurate records and supporting compliance audits.
  • Collaborate with maintenance staff to ensure timely and high-quality property upkeep, contributing to a safe and pleasant living environment.
  • Assist in preparing reports to monitor community performance and identify areas for improvement.
COMPENSATION
  • $24.00-$25.00 / hour
  • Annual Performance Bonus
  • This position is Non-Exempt, meaning eligible for overtime pay

This range is provided as a general guideline and reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary depending on a variety of factors, including the candidate’s qualifications, geographical location, and the specific responsibilities of the role. In addition to salary, this position may be eligible for performance bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.

Final compensation offers will be determined following a thorough assessment of the candidate’s background and the requirements of the position.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of property management experience, preferably in affordable housing.
  • Familiarity with affordable housing programs (e.g., Project-Based Section 8, LIHTC) and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with RealPage, OneSite, and JD Edwards (or similar property management software).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and navigate sensitive issues professionally.
