Job summary

Northwest Engineering Service, Inc. in Boise seeks an Assistant Commissioning Engineer to support commissioning of mechanical systems.

You will collaborate with senior engineers, contractors, and project teams to test, troubleshoot, and document activities to ensure equipment meets design specifications. Responsibilities include reviewing requirements, developing plans, conducting meetings, performing verification tests, and writing detailed commissioning reports.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in engineering preferred.
• BS Degree in engineering highly desired.
• Degree in other science fields with applicable coursework considered.
• Experience as commissioning technician/engineer desired but not required.
• TAB experience desired but not required.
• NEBB commissioning or TAB certifications a plus.
• EIT a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review owner’s project requirements, design documents, and equipment submittals.
• Develop commissioning plans, installation check-sheets, and functional test procedures.
• Conduct commissioning meetings with engineers and contractors.
• Perform installation verification of equipment during construction.
• Verify point-to-point testing and control system calibration in mechanical spaces.
• Execute functional tests.
• Communicate and coordinate activities across disciplines.
• Write commissioning reports.

We are looking to add a talented Assistant Commissioning Engineer to our team in Boise. The Assistant Commissioning Engineer supports the commissioning process for building systems and equipment, ensuring they operate efficiently and meet design specifications. This role involves working closely with senior engineers, contractors, and project teams to perform testing, troubleshooting, and documentation of commissioning activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review the owner's project requirements, design documents, and equipment submittals
• Develop Commissioning plans and specifications, installation check-sheets, and functional test procedures
• Conduct Commissioning meetings with engineers and installation contractors
• Perform installation verification of equipment during construction
• Verify point-to-point testing and control system device calibration above ceilings and in mechanical spaces, often requiring ladder use or work from aerial work platforms
• Execute functional tests
• Communicate and coordinate activities among various disciplines and professionals
• Write Commissioning reports

QUALIFICATIONS

• Associates Degree in engineering
  • Preferred - Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Civil
  • Other engineering degrees will be reviewed for applicability to Commissioning
• BS Degree in engineering highly desired
• Degree in other science fields with similar coursework will be considered
• Experience working as a Commissioning technician or engineer desired but not required
• Experience working HVAC Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) desired but not required
• Certifications from NEBB in commissioning or TAB a plus
• EIT a plus
