The New York City Department of Transportation seeks an Assistant Commissioner of Ferry Engineering to manage the Ferry Engineering Unit. Serves as the Assistant Commissioner of Ferry Engineering for the Staten Island Ferry. Under the general direction of the Deputy Commissioner of the Staten Island Ferry, with broad scope for independent initiative and judgment, serves as the Engineer in Charge of the Ferry Engineering Unit. Responsible for coordinating personnel and projects within Ferry Engineering, managing projects worth over $230 million supporting construction, maintenance (routine and emergency), reconstruction, and upgrades of all Ferry Division assets. Assets include nine Staten Island Ferryboats, oil barges, crane barges, support vessels, passenger terminals, and maintenance facilities. This is a managerial position.
