The Division of Family and Child Health (DFCH) of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is charged with creating and overseeing programs, policies, services, and environments that support physical and socio-emotional health, promote primary and reproductive health services, health equity, social justice, safety, and well-being for NYC families and children. The Division includes the Bureau of Maternal Infant and Reproductive Health, the Bureau of Early Intervention, the Office of School Health, and the Bureau of Administration. Our vision is that every child, woman, and family recognizes their power and has the opportunity to reach their full health and development potential.
The Bureau of Maternal, Infant and Reproductive Health (BMIRH) aims to improve and reduce inequities in maternal, infant, and reproductive health outcomes through programs, policies, and research. We apply a sexual and reproductive justice and racial justice framework, engaging community partners to advance our work.
We seek a dynamic, experienced public health professional with a successful track record to lead the NYC Health Department’s Bureau of Maternal, Infant and Reproductive Health. The Assistant Commissioner will provide leadership and management, with broad discretion for decision-making, to promote health equity and address racial and ethnic disparities in maternal and reproductive health outcomes.
