The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference is seeking an Assistant Commissioner to manage day-to-day operations, develop digital media strategies, and assist with event management. This full-time role requires strong communication skills and experience in collegiate athletics. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's degree and experience with Adobe Creative Suite. The position offers a salary range of $50,000-$55,000 and a remote work environment, with travel required for championships and meetings.
The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), a NCAA Division III conference comprised of 12 selective liberal arts colleges and universities located in Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana and Texas, is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Commissioner. This is a full-time, 12-month position with benefits.
This position offers the right candidate the opportunity to immerse themselves in all aspects of collegiate athletic administration at the conference level. The Assistant Commissioner will be involved in the conference’s day-to-day operations, including developing and implementing the league’s long-term digital media plan as well as assisting with championships event management, sports information duties and more. The position offers the unique opportunity to gain higher level experience with strategic planning, branding, and involvement at all SCAC administrators, coaches, and committee meetings. The Assistant Commissioner reports to and is under the direct supervision of the Commissioner.
This position is partially funded by the Division III Strategic Alliance Matching Grant Enhancement Program, which is designed to provide financial assistance to Division III conferences and member institutions committed to enhancing underrepresented groups in intercollegiate athletics.
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
The Assistant Commissioner will also be expected to perform additional duties as assigned by the Commissioner or Associate Commissioner in service of and in an effort to meet the needs of the conference membership.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree is required, with a minimum expectation of 3-5 years in a conference office, collegiate sports communications, athletics administration, or related field also required. The successful candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to organize, plan and problem solve. Ideal applicants will have advanced computer skills and experience with the Adobe Creative Suite, including, but not limited to, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro and After Effects. The candidate must also be familiar with database driven website software (preferably SideArm) and should have familiarity with various statistical software packages such as NCAA LiveStats, PrestoStats and StatCrew. Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules preferred.
