Assistant Colorist, Hair Color Bar - $500 sign on bonus included*!

* Sign on bonus is for newly hired Folsom, CA HCB employees only. Sign on bonus will be split amongst multiple pay periods. Half of the sign on bonus will be paid out following 60 days of active employment and the second/final payment will payout after 120 days of active employment. Payments are made in the payroll period following the completed timeframe. You must be actively employed at the time of payment.

The Assistant Colorist at Madison Reed Hair Color Bar supports the Licensed Colorists and Shift Lead to provide a seamless guest experience from arrival to departure as you learn the services and work towards your next role. You love beauty and hair color, and you pride yourself on helping guests find the best color for them and executing their service with perfection.

The Madison Reed Assistant Colorist is the expert on Madison Reed consultations, hair care products, shampooing and conditioning, blowout services, unlimited roots membership program, and subscriptions while learning and practicing services offered. You will learn how to connect with guests and team members to foster a positive work environment, meet the demands of a busy day, maintain cleanliness and organization, build relationships, and support each other. This role is in training for promotion to Licensed Colorist in 3-9 months. #livelifecolorfully

This role reports to the Manager and can be full or part-time depending on business needs. Availability at peak times is required to best serve our guests.

We aim to pay competitively at Madison Reed. Compensation includes base hourly pay, commissions, tips, and monthly bonuses. Earnings range from $18 - $46 per hour, depending on performance, tenure, and experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate teamwork skills to provide a guest experience aligned with our values of Love, Joy, Trust, Courage, and Responsibility.
  • Assist in behind-the-chair services such as finishing, shampooing, conditioning, styling, blowouts, hot tool styling, treatments, toner services, and add-on product applications as requested by guests.
  • Contribute to achieving monthly sales goals and other KPIs, including retail sales, services, and memberships.
  • Ensure the Hair Color Bar meets company standards for cleanliness, merchandising, inventory, and asset security.
  • Follow protocols regarding Madison Reed systems, policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Increase revenue by promoting additional services, memberships, subscriptions, and hair care products.
  • Proactively learn and complete training to develop color theory and application skills, progressing towards becoming a Licensed Colorist.

Physical Demands: Standing and walking for over four hours, repetitive bending and twisting, manipulating fingers and hands, reaching, and lifting up to ten pounds. Occasional sitting, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and moving are also required. Regular communication with guests through conversations and consultations is part of the role.

Qualifications:
  • Active cosmetology license in the state of application.
  • Entry-level experience in customer service or retail sales; salon or beauty industry experience preferred.
  • Effective communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable operating point-of-sale systems.
  • Fluency in English.
