Job summary

North Haven High School is seeking an Assistant Coach for its Varsity Baseball Program. The role includes working with the Athletic Director and head coach, supervising student-athletes at practices and games, and assisting with travel and scheduling.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Work with the Athletic Department and head coach in all capacities.
• Supervise student-athletes during practices and games.
• Supervise student-athletes during transportation to away games.
• Assist head coach with scheduling, organizing, and implementing practice sessions.
• Demonstrate professionalism and serve as a role model for student-athletes.
• Assist head coach with equipment/inventory and end-of-season reporting.
• Assist head coach with equipment/facilities care and maintenance.
• Communicate effectively with parents, including preseason meetings.

Job Description

North Haven High School is seeking an Assistant Coach for its Varsity Baseball Program. The responsibilities for this job include, but are not limited to:

• Work and communicate with the North Haven Athletic Department, including the athletic director, administrative assistant, and head coach of the baseball program in all necessary capacities
• Supervise student-athletes at all times, including all practices and games
• Supervise student-athletes during transportation to and from "away" games
• Assist head coach in scheduling, organizing, preparing and implementing practice sessions on a regular basis to develop the student-athletes' greatest potential
• Demonstrate positive characteristics and serve as a role model for student-athletes
• Assume all duties assigned by head coach
• Assist head coach in maintaining accurate inventory/record of equipment and uniforms and assist in submitting an itemized report at the end of each season to the athletic director
• Assist head coach in being responsible for constant care of equipment and facilities
• Assist head coach in communicating effectively with parents as it relates to student-athletes, which includes being a part of the preseason meeting

The successful candidate must possess, or be working towards a Connecticut Coaches Certification (must be in place before the season begins); be CPR, AED and First Aid certified before the first practice; have previous coaching and/or playing experience with the sport. Compensation will follow North Haven's coach's stipend scale.
