Job description

Position Overview

This position provides essential support for the success of both the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country/Track and Field programs. Key responsibilities include coaching, skill development, recruiting, academic monitoring, and fostering a positive team culture.

Responsibilities

  1. Assist with academic monitoring of student-athletes.
  2. Support the personal development of student-athletes.
  3. Contribute to maintaining a positive team environment.
  4. Identify, evaluate, and recruit students who can succeed academically and athletically at Butler.
  5. Build and maintain relationships with scholastic and non-scholastic coaches.
  6. Assist in teaching and coaching in team and individual settings.
  7. Oversee training for specific event groups.
  8. Manage weight training and skill development programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Collegiate coaching or playing experience, with knowledge of NCAA Division I and Big East rules.
  • Ability to work effectively with student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and staff.
  • Excellent verbal communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in coaching sprints, hurdles, and jumps events.
  • Three or more years of collegiate coaching experience.
  • Master’s Degree.
  • Coaching certifications such as USATF, USTFCCCA, or CSCS.
