Job Description:
BASIC FUNCTION:
To assist the Head Coach, Softball in all aspects of the softballprogram to include recruiting, scouting, and coaching and teachingthe skills and game strategies of the sport as directed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Primary duty is teaching, coaching, and mentoringstudent-athletes under Head Coach, Softball direction.
- Assist the Head Coach, Softball in the scouting, recruiting,and retention processes as directed.
- Coaching responsibilities in practice and game situations asdetermined by the Head Coach, Softball.
- Assist the Head Coach with fundraising and Alumni relationresponsibilities.
- Administrative duties as assigned by the Head Coach,Softball.
- Must adhere to all NCAA/NEWMAC/Salve Regina University rulesand regulations.
- In particular, all coaches and athletics personnel are chargedwith being knowledgeable and assuring and monitoring compliance byall student- athletes, staff and assistant coaches with applicablegoverning constitutions, by-laws, rules, policies, interpretationsand regulations of the NCAA, the University, and the appropriateathletics conference. Staff members shall immediately advise theCompliance Office if there is reason to believe that violationshave occurred or will occur and shall cooperate fully in anyinvestigation of possible NCAA or Conference violations.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Softball orthe Director of Athletics.
- Attend all department meetings as required, and all AdmissionsOpen Houses when necessary.
- May assume a broader instructional assignment. Assignments mayinclude a larger instructional workload and/or travel betweenmultiple locations.
- May provide instruction in specialized program areas or todesignated student populations requiring advanced subject matterexpertise, specialized instructional methodologies, orprogram-specific knowledge.
- This position is classified as an "essential position". Duringthe academic year, when students are on-campus, employees whooccupy an essential position ("essential personnel"), may berequired to be on campus during emergencies, when work and/orclasses have been cancelled. Essential personnel will be notifiedby their supervisor if they're required to be on campus during suchemergencies.
LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:
- Valid driver's license in good standing.
- Current CPR, AED, and First-Aid Certifications.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Incumbent is subject to both inside and outside work, and couldencounter extreme weather conditions.
Requirements:
Required :
- Bachelor's degree required. A minimum of one to three years ofcollegiate softball coaching experience is preferred. Thesuccessful candidate will possess highly developed communicationand organizational skills, efficiency in computer usage and a highdegree of self-motivation and dedication to all aspects of theintercollegiate program.

- Ability to work effectively in the environment of anacademically demanding institution and abide by all NCAA DivisionIII, New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference, and SalveRegina University policies.
Preferred :
- A strong foundation of the rules of softball as a player orcoach and a full appreciation and understanding of NCAA rules andregulations is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with, or ability to learn, technologyapplications (ie. Film breakdown, exchange) applicable to theposition.
