POSITION TITLE: Assistant Coach, Middle School
QUALIFICATIONS

Prior coaching experience required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The assistant coach supports the athletics program by working cooperatively with the varsity head coach, performing assigned duties, and ensuring actions align with the school's policies and the Nebraska School Activities Association rules. The role involves supporting student-athletes' safety, academic success, conduct, skill development, and team participation, while maintaining effective communication with staff, parents, and administrators.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Ensure the safety and well-being of all student participants.
  2. Attend practices and competitions punctually and consistently.
  3. Support academic performance and uphold high conduct standards for student athletes.
  4. Promote positive behavior and team play, supporting the head coach's plans and expectations.
  5. Gather and communicate eligibility information for student athletes.
  6. Participate in district-approved activities with elementary students as requested.
  7. Maintain effective communication with students, staff, parents, and administrators regarding program developments and issues.
  8. Collaborate with coaches and officials to enhance the experience for athletes and spectators.
  9. Encourage participation and support across all athletics programs, assisting other coaches when possible.
Coaching
  1. Plan and schedule activities in coordination with the Head Coach and Athletic Director, adhering to governing rules.
  2. Design and implement strength and conditioning programs to promote health and success.
  3. Develop practice activities focused on skill development, understanding of the sport, and team cohesion.
  4. Lead student-athletes in preparing for competitions, managing resources effectively.
  5. Ensure safe transportation arrangements for students after activities.
Program Administration
  1. Oversee safety conditions of facilities and report concerns promptly.
  2. Maintain inventory and condition of equipment, recommending replacements as needed.
  3. Verify student eligibility documentation for interscholastic sports.
  4. Maintain and report performance data and financial records timely.
  5. Prepare an end-of-season report with evaluations and improvement recommendations.
