Description

The Assistant Men's Soccer Coach provides administrative, instructional, and recruiting support services to the Men's Soccer program under the direction and supervision of the Head Coach of Men's Soccer at Heidelberg University.

Supervision Exercised

May supervise student employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Recruiting quality student-athletes capable of competing at the NCAA level and achieving academic success at a competitive academic institution.
  2. Achieving competitive results that demonstrate athletic excellence.
  3. Providing leadership in the personal development of student-athletes by projecting a positive and professional image.
  4. Helping to design a competitive schedule for the program that maximizes student-athlete development and performance.
  5. Developing and sustaining positive relationships with alumni and friends of the Men's Soccer program.
  6. Aiding in the planning and implementation of practice and competition schedules.
  7. Participating and assisting in fundraising activities.
  8. Exhibiting the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with adherence to NCAA, Ohio Athletics Conference, University, and Athletics Department standards.
  9. Administration of home events.
  10. Aiding in the planning of team travel and recruit visits.
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Head Coach of Men's Soccer.

Education and Professional Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 2-4 years coaching/athletic experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Proven ability to recruit high-level student-athletes.
  • Demonstrated coaching specialty in soccer.
  • Successful background in collegiate coaching and/or personal experience at the collegiate level.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to relate to diverse individuals.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Ability to travel as needed and work evenings and weekends.
Tools and Equipment Used

Knowledge of operation and use of various office equipment including computers, software, fax, copier, telephone, scanner, and printers. Experience with recruiting software and databases. Valid driver’s license required.

Physical Demands

Frequent use of arms, hands, and fingers; mobility; communication; and hearing. Occasional outdoor environmental exposure. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and more than 45 pounds occasionally. Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception. Mental stress may occur.

Work Environment

Primarily office and educational facilities, indoor and outdoor venues. Noise levels range from quiet to loud.
