Job description

POSITION REPORTS TO: Head Men’s Basketball Coach

Summary of Position

The men’s basketball assistant coach (full-time) is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in the administration of all aspects of the sport program, including coaching, teaching students, recruiting, game and practice preparation, fund-raising, budget management, compliance with NCAA and conference rules, and participating as a member of the college community. The role also includes serving as the department's emerging media coordinator in collaboration with the Sports Information department.

As the Full-Time Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach, you will:

  1. Demonstrate high-level coaching competency in sport skills, strategy, tactics, rules, physical training, and student motivation.
  2. Participate in recruitment activities, including data entry, correspondence, talent identification, and communicating college opportunities.
  3. Assist in game preparation through scouting, image analysis, and strategy discussions.
  4. Support the head coach in implementing a successful athletic program that emphasizes student-athlete experience, working under supervision but showing initiative.
  5. Uphold professional standards and ethical behavior, adhering to NCAA, conference, and college values, including sportsmanship and positive leadership.
  6. Show genuine interest in the social, emotional, academic, and athletic development of student-athletes, collaborating on academic monitoring and guidance.
  7. Maintain excellent relationships within the department and promote the athletic program's philosophy and objectives.
  8. Take on additional responsibilities as assigned, such as supervising recreational programs, managing facilities, or other projects.
  9. Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.

Compensation

New hires typically start within the salary range minimum to midpoint, based on qualifications and budget. The annual salary for this position is $38,500.

Experience and Qualifications
