Job Description

Season: 2026-2027 (March - May 2027)

Location: Parkrose High School

Salary: Level E- $4,444 (prorated over a 3-month period)

Deadline: Open until filled

Qualifications
  • Successful coaching experience in the sport.
  • Keep current with new knowledge and innovative ideas and techniques in the sport.
  • Responsible for promoting designated sport throughout the School District and community in a positive and responsible manner.
  • OSAA and District Eligibility requirements met.

Position Details
Essential Job Functions
  • Provide a positive learning environment and be a positive role model for the athletes.
  • Teach the skills necessary for successful performance under the guidance of head coach.
  • Manage athlete behavior during training sessions, meets and events.
  • Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and School Board Policies.
  • Attend all meets and events scheduled for the sport, including coaches’ meetings.
  • Organize and schedule practice sessions on a regular basis with the idea of developing the athlete’s greatest potential under guidance of Head Coach.
  • Apply discipline in a firm and positive manner.
Requirements
  • Experience with high school students and the sport/activity.
  • Verification of identity and prior employment.
  • The coach must hold or be able to acquire:
    • Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance by the State Department of Education.
    • Online district required trainings through online Safe Schools Program.
    • Current First Aid and CPR/AED card.
    • Other required certification: ASEP/NFHS Coaching, OSAA Concussion, OSAA Steroid & OSAA Heat Prevention.

Requirement* (Additional cost items):

  • Coaching application and new hire paperwork (I-9, W-4) – $0.
  • Fingerprinting – $12.50.
  • Background check – $75.
  • ASEP/NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching – $50.
  • Concussion Recognition and Management – $0.
  • NFHS Heat Acclimatization and Heat Illness Prevention – $0.
  • Anabolic Steroids and Performance-Enhancing Sub – $0.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED – $35.
  • SafeSchools – District required trainings – $0.

*Requirements for new coaches (paid and volunteer). “Coaches” includes all sports sanctioned by OSAA, plus Cheerleading and Dance/Drill.

**This will be paid through payroll deduction.
